Alright, let’s talk about this fella, Randy Strong. Sounds like a big, tough guy, right? Well, I heard tell he wasn’t always so strong. Used to be kinda sickly, you know? Poor health, they said. But then, wham! He lost a whole bunch of weight and started feelin’ like a new man. Good for him, I say. Nothin’ better than feelin’ good in your own skin.
Now, this Randy fella, he got himself mixed up in some politics, too. Seems like he ran for somethin’… Sheriff, maybe? Yeah, somethin’ like that. Heard tell there was another fella, White, wanted the same job. This White fella, he ran against Randy before and lost! Can you imagine? Lost to Randy Strong. Musta been a real shocker for him. Said he knew right after he lost, he’d try again. Some folks just don’t give up, I guess.
And then there’s this other story about Randy… Seems like he ran for somethin’ else too. Against some fella named Porky Logan? Now that’s a name you don’t forget! Porky Logan. Anyway, Randy lost that time. Said somethin’ about believin’ in the Constitution. Well, I reckon most folks believe in the Constitution, don’t they? Maybe he said it wrong, or maybe folks just didn’t like what he was sellin’. Politics, it’s a funny business, always has been.

- Ran for Sheriff and won against some fella named White.
- Ran for another office against a fella named Porky Logan and lost. Said something about the Constitution.
This whole thing reminds me of that time my cousin Billy Bob tried to run for town council. Bless his heart, he didn’t know a thing about politics. Just thought it’d be fun, I guess. He lost, of course. Didn’t even get enough votes to matter. But he tried, you know? That’s what counts, I reckon. Tryin’ your best, even if you don’t win.
So, back to Randy. Seems like he’s had his ups and downs. Win some, lose some. That’s life, ain’t it? One minute you’re on top of the world, the next you’re pickin’ yourself up off the ground. But you gotta keep goin’. Just like Randy. He lost to Porky, but maybe he’ll run again. Who knows? Maybe he’ll even win next time. Strong name, gotta give him that. Maybe it helped him win that first time, maybe it’ll help him again.
Heard a tale about another fella, somethin’ about losin’ his job… employment minister or somethin’ fancy like that. Seems he got caught doin’ some shady stuff. Fakin’ things, they said. Now, that ain’t right. You gotta be honest, especially when you’re in charge of things. Don’t matter if you’re a minister or a sheriff or just plain old Randy. Honesty’s the best policy, that’s what my mama always said.
And there’s this other fella, Randy Pausch. Wrote a book, I heard. About gettin’ sick and what he did after. That’s tough, real tough. But it sounds like he was strong, too. Not just in the body, but in the mind and spirit. That’s the kind of strong that really matters, I think. The kind that helps you get through the hard times. Makes you wonder if all these Randys got somethin’ in common, you know? Maybe it’s just a name, or maybe it’s somethin’ more.
I even heard tell of a Randy in some TV show, South Park they called it. Somethin’ about the “covid specials.” Don’t know much about that, never watched it myself. Too much cussin’ and carryin’ on for my taste. But seems like this Randy was in the middle of things, just like our Randy Strong. Always in the thick of it, that’s how some folks are.
So, there you have it. A little bit about Randy Strong and some other Randys, too. Seems like a common name, but maybe not so common folks. Strong folks, fighters, folks who try and try again. That’s the kind of person I admire, even if they lose sometimes. It’s the tryin’ that counts, like I said before. And who knows, maybe we’ll hear more about Randy Strong one day. Maybe he’ll run for somethin’ else. Maybe he’ll win. Maybe he’ll just keep on livin’ his life, strong and steady. Either way, I wish him well.
