Well, hello there, everyone. Today, we’re gonna yak about movies, you know, them picture shows. Specifically, we’re lookin’ at movies like Escape from Alcatraz. That one with Clint Eastwood, where he tries to bust out of that island jail. Yeah, that one.
Now, I ain’t no fancy movie critic or nothin’, but I know what I like. And I like a good story about folks tryin’ to get free. So, if you liked Escape from Alcatraz, you might like some of these other ones too.
First off, there’s a bunch of ’em. I heard tell there’s somethin’ like 72 movies that are kinda like it. That’s a whole lotta movies, ain’t it? Can’t watch ’em all, that’s for sure. But I reckon some are better than others.
Some folks, they like them old-timey prison break movies. You know, the classics. They talk about The Great Escape and Shawshank Redemption. Heard them Redditors, whoever they are, they love them. I ain’t seen Shawshank myself, but they say it’s real good. About a fella wrongly accused and all that.
- The Great Escape – This one’s about a bunch of fellas tryin’ to bust outta a German POW camp during the war. Lots of diggin’ and plannin’, from what I hear.
- Shawshank Redemption – Like I said, ain’t seen it, but it’s supposed to be about hope and friendship and never givin’ up, even when you’re stuck in a bad place.
Then there’s some other ones, not so famous maybe, but still good. There’s this one called Escape Plan, with those tough guys, Syl and Arnold. They’re always blowin’ things up and shootin’ guns. It’s a bit different from Escape from Alcatraz, ’cause it’s more action-packed, you know? More bang-bang.
And if you like them foreign films, there’s this one about a fella named Lupin. Lupin The Third: Alcatraz Connection, they call it. He’s lookin’ for gold, not tryin’ to escape, but it’s still got that Alcatraz feel, you know, that island prison and all. I ain’t much for them foreign flicks, but some folks like ’em.
Now, Escape from Alcatraz, it’s all about bein’ smart and figurin’ things out. They used papers to make dummies and raincoats to make a raft. Can you imagine that? Just plain ol’ paper and raincoats. That’s pretty clever if you ask me. Not like them action movies where they just blow a hole in the wall.
There’s other movies set on Alcatraz too. They say it’s the most secure prison ever. Nobody’s supposed to escape from that place. That’s why they make so many movies about it, I guess. People like to see if someone can beat the odds.
I heard tell there’s a website, Filmaffinity they call it, where folks vote on movies and give recommendations. Sounds fancy, don’t it? They probably got a whole list of movies like Escape from Alcatraz over there. You could go check it out if you’re one of them computer types.
There’s even one called Half Past Dead with that fella Steven Seagal. He’s always fightin’ and kickin’. It’s from a while back, 2002 I think. Not exactly the same, but it’s got that prison theme going on. He’s tryin’ to stop some bad guys from breakin’ out, I think.
So, there you have it. A whole bunch of movies you might like if you liked Escape from Alcatraz. Some are old, some are new, some are about plannin’ and thinkin’, some are about fightin’ and shootin’. But they all got that somethin’ special, that story about tryin’ to get free. And that’s somethin’ we can all understand, ain’t it?
In short, if you like a good prison escape story, you got plenty to choose from. Whether it’s a classic like “The Great Escape” or a more action-packed flick like “Escape Plan,” there’s something out there for everyone. Just remember, it’s all just make-believe, but it sure is fun to watch sometimes.
