Looking for Books Similar to Outlander? Your Next Great Read Awaits

Alright, so you’re lookin’ for books like that Outlander, huh? That show with all the time travel and kilts and whatnot. I get it, I get it. My niece, she loves that stuff. Always talkin’ ’bout Jamie this and Claire that. So, I asked around, you know, at the market and the bingo hall, and folks told me about some books that might tickle your fancy. Don’t expect nothin’ fancy now, these ain’t gonna be exactly the same, but they got that… what do you call it… historical somethin’-somethin’ goin’ on.

First off, some folks told me about a book called At The Water’s Edge by some lady named Sara Gruen. Now, I ain’t read it myself, mind you, but they say it’s got some kinda love story and it’s set way back when, during some war or somethin’. Sounds kinda like that Outlander, with the love and the old times, right?

Then there’s this A Court of Thorns and Roses by another lady, Sarah somethin’. This one’s got fairies and magic and all that, so maybe it ain’t exactly like Outlander, but my niece said it’s got romance and adventure, just like Jamie and Claire. So, I figure, why not throw it in the mix?

  • At The Water’s Edge by Sara Gruen – Heard it’s got a good love story and takes place in the old days.
  • A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah – Fairies and magic, but with a love story, so it might scratch that itch.

Now, some serious Outlander fans, they told me about The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley. Apparently, even that Diana Gabaldon lady, the one who wrote Outlander, she likes this Susanna’s books. So, that’s gotta be a good sign, right? They say it’s got history and mystery and maybe a bit of that time travel feel, though I ain’t sure about that last part.

And then there’s all them other shows folks watch. You know, Poldark, The White Queen, The White Princess, The Spanish Princess, Victoria, Downton Abbey, Bridgerton. They’re all about old times and fancy folks and whatnot, but they ain’t quite the same as Outlander. They’re more like… well, they’re pretty, but they don’t got that… I don’t know… that somethin’ special that Outlander has. But hey, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to watch while you’re waitin’ for the next Outlander book or season, they might do the trick.

So, there you have it. A few books and shows that might, just might, fill that Outlander-shaped hole in your heart. Don’t go blamin’ me if they ain’t perfect, I’m just passin’ along what I heard. And listen, if you find any other good ones, let me know! I gotta tell my niece, she’s always complainin’ about that “Droughtlander” thing, whatever that is. Sounds like a dry spell to me, but who am I to judge?

Remember now, If you’ve finished all the Outlander books or seen all the shows and you’re itching for more, then you ain’t alone. Plenty of folks are lookin’ for something similar. Just gotta keep your eyes peeled and your ears open, and you’re bound to find somethin’ that’ll keep you entertained.

And one more thing, if you’re startin’ to read the Outlander books, don’t start with that Virgins book, they say it ain’t the place to start, you’ll get all confused. Start at the beginning, like a normal person.

So, there ya go, happy reading, or watchin’, or whatever it is you do with them stories. Hope you find somethin’ you like. And don’t forget to tell your old auntie if you find a good one!
