I reckon back then, in 1980, they didn’t have all them rules and regulations about animal safety like they do now. It was a different time, I tell ya.

It’s a horror movie, so I guess they wanted it to be real scary-like. But did they have to go and kill a real snake to do it? Seems kinda cruel to me. I mean, they coulda used a fake one, right? They got all sorts of fancy tricks in them movies these days. Back then, though, I guess they just did things different.

Nowadays, somethin’ like that would get you in a whole heap of trouble. Them PETA folks, they wouldn’t stand for it.

Some say there was no supervision on set and that’s why things like this could happen. Well, whatever the reason, it don’t make it right. It’s easy to look back and judge, but I tell ya, it’s important to learn from the past. We can’t change what happened, but we can sure as shootin’ make sure it don’t happen again.
And that’s all I gotta say about that. It’s a sad story, a real shame. But it’s a part of that movie’s story, and now you know the truth of it.
