Alright, let’s talk about them dark purple nails, the ones all the young girls are gettin’ nowadays. I don’t know much about fancy names, but I saw some pictures, and let me tell ya, some are right pretty, and some… well, some look like you smashed your fingers in the barn door.
First off, what even *is* dark purple? Like, the color of them grapes we used to grow? Or maybe that darker, almost blackish kind? I guess it don’t matter much, long as it’s dark and purplish. They say it’s fancy, like what them queens and kings wore back in the day. Royal, they call it. Humph, royalty never had to muck out a pigsty with nails that long, I betcha.
Now, I saw some pictures, and some of them nails got glitter on ’em. Glitter ombre, they say. Sounds like somethin’ you’d find in a fancy bakery, not on your hands. But I gotta admit, some of them sparkly ones are kinda nice. Like a starry night sky, but on your fingers. Still, seems like a lot of fuss just to do the dishes.
- Then there’s them plain dark purple ones. Just the color, nothin’ else. Simple, I guess. Practical, if you can call any of this nail business practical.
- And them swirly ones? Abstract, they call it. Looks like someone just smeared the paint around to me. But hey, what do I know? I ain’t no artist. Just a plain ol’ woman who’s seen a thing or two.
But listen here, young’uns, before you go paintin’ your nails all sorts of colors, you gotta make sure they’re healthy. I heard tell that if your nails turn blue or purple all on their own, somethin’ ain’t right. Like you ain’t gettin’ enough air or somethin’. Cyanosis, they call it. Sounds scary. And somethin’ about that Vitamin B12, too. If you ain’t got enough of that, your nails might get all dark and streaky. So eat your greens, you hear? And your meat, too. Can’t live on nothin’ but air and sunshine.
And another thing, there’s this thing they call “#PutTheNailinIt” where you paint your ring finger purple to show you’re against folks hurtin’ each other in their own homes. Well, I say that’s a good thing. Anything that stops the fightin’ is alright by me. Paint all your nails purple if it helps, I say. Just make sure you can still do your chores.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ don’t have fun with your nails. If you wanna paint ‘em purple, go ahead. Just remember, pretty nails don’t get the work done. You still gotta get up in the mornin’ and feed the chickens, no matter how fancy your fingers look. And if you’re gonna paint ‘em, do a good job. Nothin’ worse than chipped, messy nails. Makes you look like you been diggin’ in the dirt all day, and not in a good way.
So there you have it. My two cents on them dark purple nails. Take it or leave it. I’m just an old woman, but I’ve seen a lot in my time. And one thing I know for sure, pretty is as pretty does. And that goes for your nails and everything else.
One last thing, don’t be wastin’ all your money on them fancy nail salons. You can buy a bottle of polish for a few dollars and do it yourself. Save that money for somethin’ important, like a good pair of boots or a warm coat. That’s just common sense, somethin’ they don’t teach you in them fancy schools, I reckon.
