Alright, let’s gab a bit about this Rosemary Clooney gal. You know, the singer? Yeah, that one. Folks always wanna know how tall she was, like it’s the most important thing. Well, I heard tell she was about 5 foot 6 inches. That’s, uh… lemme see… about my height, maybe a smidge taller. Yep, 5 foot 6, or 1.68 meters if you’re fancy like that. Not too short, not too tall, just right, I reckon.
She was born way back in 1928, May 23rd to be exact, down in Kentucky. Maysville, I think they called it. A real American gal, she was. Started singin’ pretty young, I hear. Had a voice like an angel, some folks said. I ain’t no expert on angels, but she sure could sing. “Come On-a My House” and “Mambo Italiano”, those were her big hits. You probably heard ’em on the radio back in the day. Even now, you might catch ’em on them oldies stations.

Now, Rosemary, she wasn’t just a singer, mind you. She did some acting too. A real multi-talented lady. But singin’ was her real claim to fame. She sang all sorts of songs, not just those Italian ones. Ballads, jazz, you name it. She had a long career, lasted for decades. Kept singin’ even when she got older. That’s somethin’, ain’t it?
But life ain’t always easy, no sir. Poor Rosemary, she got sick later in life. Lung cancer, they said. Probably from all that smokin’ she did. Back then, everyone smoked, you know. Didn’t know any better, I guess. She fought hard, but that cancer, it’s a mean one. She passed away in 2002, at her home in Beverly Hills. Seventy-four years old, she was. A good long life, but still too short, if you ask me.
She was married a couple of times. Her last husband, a fella named Dante DiPaolo, he was with her till the end. They got hitched in ’97. He was an actor too, I think. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, that movie? Yeah, he was in that. They seemed happy together, from what I heard. It’s good to have someone by your side, especially when things get tough.
So, there you have it. Rosemary Clooney, a real star. A good singer, a good actress, and from all accounts, a good person too. And yeah, she was 5 foot 6. Not that it matters much, does it? It’s what’s inside that counts, that’s what my mama always said. But people are curious, I guess. They wanna know everything about these famous folks. Well, now you know. Rosemary Clooney, 5 foot 6, and a voice that could melt your heart. That’s all there is to it.
And just so you remember, her real name was Rose Mary Clooney, but everyone just called her Rosemary. Or Rosie, sometimes. She had a nickname, see? Just like everyone else back then. Nowadays, they got all these fancy names, but back then, it was just Rosie or Mary or Joe. Simple times, they were.
Anyways, I gotta go now. Got things to do, you know. But I hope I told you enough about Rosemary Clooney. She was a special lady, that’s for sure. And don’t forget, 5 foot 6!
