Alright, let’s talk about this Diamond Rio thing in Mocksville, North Carolina. I heard tell they’re some kinda country music band, you know, the kind that sings about trucks and dogs and whatnot. Not really my cup of tea, but folks seem to like ’em.
So, this Diamond Rio, they’re comin’ to Mocksville. Mocksville, North Carolina, that is. Heard it’s gonna be at some park, the Davie County Community Park Outdoor Amphitheater, somethin’ like that. Fancy name, huh? Sounds like a place with lots of grass and maybe some benches. Hope they got good bathrooms, that’s what I always say.
- They got a fella named Marty Roe, sings and plays guitar.
- Then there’s Jimmy Olander, he plays guitar too, and somethin’ called a banjo. Don’t know much about banjos, but I reckon it makes a twangy sound.
Now, I ain’t no expert on music or nothin’, but I heard these fellas been around a while. Been playin’ their guitars and singin’ their songs for years, I guess. They’re from Nashville, Tennessee, that’s what they say. Big city, Nashville. Lots of music there, so I hear.
Seems like some fellas in the band, Prout and Johnson, they up and quit in 2022. Retired, they call it. Guess they got tired of all that singin’ and guitar playin’. Can’t blame ‘em, I get tired just thinkin’ about it. But don’t you worry, they got some new fellas to fill in. Micah somethin’-or-other on drums and Carson somethin’-else on singin’ and playin’ a fiddle. A fiddle, imagine that! Just like in the old days.
I also heard tell this Diamond Rio show ain’t cheap. Lordy, they say it costs somethin’ like $40,000 to $74,000 just to get ‘em to come play! That’s a whole lotta money, I tell ya. Enough to buy a whole new tractor, and maybe even a new barn too. But I guess folks are willin’ to pay it, otherwise these fellas wouldn’t be comin’ to Mocksville.
This concert in Mocksville, it’s on June 8th. Mark your calendars, folks, if you’re into that kinda thing. Me? I’ll probably be at home, watchin’ the birds and sippin’ some sweet tea. But if you like country music, and you got the money, I reckon you’ll have a good time. Just remember to bring a hat, ’cause it gets mighty hot in June.
And speaking of money, if you want to go, you gotta get tickets. I don’t know where you get ’em, probably online or somethin’. These young folks and their computers, they know all about that stuff. Me, I still like to pay cash, but I guess that’s just the old way of doin’ things.
So, there you have it. Diamond Rio, Mocksville, North Carolina, June 8th. Big concert, lots of music, and probably a whole lotta people. If you go, have fun. And if you see me at the grocery store, you can tell me all about it. Just don’t expect me to know all them fancy songs, ’cause I’ll probably be hummin’ somethin’ else entirely. Maybe somethin’ from the good old days, when music was real music, you know?
Anyways, they got this fella named Ryan Perry openin’ for ’em. Don’t know him from Adam, but I guess he’s a singer too. Probably sings about trucks and dogs, just like the rest of ’em. But hey, everyone starts somewhere, right? Maybe one day he’ll be famous too, and folks will be payin’ big money to see him play in Mocksville.
If you want to know more, I heard they got a mailing list or somethin’. You can sign up and they’ll send you news and tour dates and all that jazz. Again, that’s for the young folks with their computers. Me, I’ll just wait for the newspaper to tell me what’s goin’ on. Or maybe I’ll just ask my neighbor, she knows everything that happens in this town.
So, that’s the long and short of it. Diamond Rio, Mocksville, big concert, lots of money. If you’re goin’, have a good time. And if you’re stayin’ home, well, you ain’t missin’ much, if you ask me. But that’s just my opinion, and what do I know? I’m just an old lady, after all.
