Alright, let’s talk about this Orville Redenbacher popcorn stuff. You know, the stuff they sell in them bags at the store? Yeah, that’s the one. People keep askin’ me, “Is this stuff good for ya? What’s in it?” Well, I ain’t no doctor, but I can tell ya what I heard and what I seen.
First off, they say it ain’t got none of that trans fat stuff. You know, the bad fat that clogs ya up? Yeah, they say it ain’t in there. And they say they ain’t puttin’ in that diacetyl stuff neither. I dunno what that is, but it sounds scary, so I guess it’s good it ain’t in there. And no PFOAs too. Lord knows what them letters even mean, but they say it’s bad, so no PFOAs is good, I reckon.
Now, let’s talk about the calories. That’s how much energy you get from eatin’ somethin’. If you get one of them little bags, about this big (imagine a small bag with your hands), they say it’s got a whole lotta calories. Like, four hundred and somethin’ calories, maybe more. That’s a lot, let me tell ya. Enough to keep ya goin’ for a while, I guess.
And then there’s the fat. They say some of that popcorn ain’t got much fat, like maybe nine or ten grams. But then there’s the kind with all that butter flavor, oh boy, that’s got a whole heap of fat. Thirty grams, they say! That’s a lot of fat, makes ya wonder if it’s worth it.
- No Trans Fat: They say it ain’t got none of that bad fat.
- No Diacetyl: Whatever that is, they ain’t puttin’ it in.
- No PFOAs: Another one of them scary-sounding things they ain’t usin’.
- Calories: Lots of ‘em, hundreds in a bag. Enough to fill ya up.
- Fat: Some kinds got a little fat, some got a whole lot, specially the buttery kind.
But here’s the thing, they also say this popcorn got fiber. You know, the stuff that helps ya go to the bathroom? Yeah, that stuff. They say it’s got a good amount of it, like fourteen grams or so. That’s good, I guess. Keeps things movin’, if ya know what I mean.
So, is this Orville Redenbacher stuff healthy? Well, I don’t rightly know. It ain’t got that bad fat, and it’s got that fiber, but it’s also got a lot of calories and sometimes a lot of fat. I guess it depends on how much you eat and what kind you get. If you eat a whole big bag of that buttery stuff every day, well, that probably ain’t so good for ya. But if you have a little bit now and then, maybe it ain’t so bad.
You gotta use your common sense, ya know? Can’t just eat whatever you want and expect to feel good. Gotta eat your vegetables too, and maybe some fruit now and then. And get yourself outside for some fresh air and sunshine. That’s what I always say.
I seen folks eatin’ this popcorn at the movies, at the fairs, even just sittin’ at home watchin’ the TV. It smells good, that’s for sure. And it’s crunchy, I like that. But like I said, everything in moderation. Too much of anything ain’t good for ya, not even popcorn. So, you just gotta be smart about it, that’s all.
I remember back when I was a young’un, we didn’t have all this fancy microwave popcorn. We just popped it on the stove in a big ol’ pot. It took longer, but it was good. And we didn’t worry so much about all this nutrition stuff back then. We just ate what we had and worked hard. Maybe we were better off that way, I don’t know. But times change, I guess. And now we got all this information, gotta try to make sense of it all.
So, there you have it. That’s what I know about this Orville Redenbacher popcorn. Take it or leave it. Like I said, I ain’t no doctor, just an old woman who’s seen a thing or two. You gotta decide for yourself what’s best for ya.
