Alright, let’s gab about this coffee thing and them teeth, you know? Folks keep yappin’ ’bout keepin’ them pearly whites, well, pearly, I guess. So, this whole straw business, does it work or is it just a bunch of hogwash?
Does a Straw Really Help with Coffee Stains?
Now, I ain’t no fancy dentist, but I got common sense, ya hear? If you suck that coffee through a straw, seems to me it’d go straight to the back of your throat, less chance of it sloshing all over your front teeth. That makes a lick of sense, don’t it? Them front teeth, that’s what folks see when you grin, so keepin’ ’em clean is important, I reckon.
But here’s the thing, if you’re one of them folks who like to swish their coffee around like it’s mouthwash, well, a straw ain’t gonna do jack squat. You gotta keep that coffee away from them teeth, that’s the whole shebang. And don’t be stickin’ that straw right up against your teeth neither, that ain’t gonna help. Keep it towards the back, ya hear?
What About Them Back Teeth?
Now, the front teeth might get a break, but them molars in the back? They ain’t so lucky. That coffee’s still gonna hit ’em, straw or no straw. It’s like tryin’ to keep dust off half the furniture in the room, ain’t gonna work perfectly. So, don’t go thinkin’ a straw is some kinda magic bullet. It ain’t.
- Front teeth, maybe a little safer with a straw.
- Back teeth, still gettin’ a coffee bath.
Keepin’ Your Chompers White, No Matter What
So, you wanna keep them teeth lookin’ good? Here’s what I’ve heard tell. First off, yeah, use a straw if you want, it might help a bit. But don’t stop there. Soon as you’re done with that coffee, swish some water around in your mouth. Just plain water, nothin’ fancy. Gets rid of some of that coffee stickin’ around.
And another thing, don’t go brushin’ your teeth right after you drink coffee. I know, it sounds like the thing to do, but it ain’t. Coffee’s got acid in it, and that acid can soften your teeth. If you brush right away, you’re just scrubbin’ that acid right into your teeth. Wait a bit, give them teeth a chance to toughen up again. Thirty minutes or so, that ought to do it.
Hot Coffee and Straws – A Word of Caution
Now, one more thing, and this is important. Don’t go suckin’ down scalding hot coffee through a straw. You’ll burn your mouth somethin’ fierce, and then you’ll be wishin’ you just had stained teeth. Let that coffee cool down a bit, ya hear? Common sense, folks, common sense.
The Long and Short of It
So, does a straw keep your teeth from gettin’ stained by coffee? Maybe a little, especially them front ones. But it ain’t no miracle worker. You gotta do more than just use a straw. Rinse your mouth, wait before you brush, and for goodness sake, don’t burn yourself with hot coffee. That’s all there is to it. Keepin’ them teeth healthy and lookin’ good, it takes a little work, but it’s worth it, I reckon.
One Last Thing…
And don’t forget, seein’ your dentist regular-like is important too. They can clean them teeth better than you ever could at home. And they can catch any problems before they get too bad. So, don’t skimp on that neither.
