Alright, so you wanna know, is Mary Lou Retton a Christian? Well, lemme tell ya, from what I hear, seems like she is. Now, I ain’t no fancy scholar or nothin’, just a regular person, but I can tell ya what I’ve heard.
This Mary Lou, she’s a big deal gymnast, you know, one of them flippy-floppy girls. Won all sorts of medals and stuff back in the day. But that ain’t what we’re talkin’ about, are we? We’re talkin’ about her believin’ in the Lord.
See, I heard tell she goes to this big church down in Houston, Texas. Second Baptist Church, they call it. And the preacher there, Ed Young, he’s a real fire-and-brimstone kind of fella, from what I gather. Now, Mary Lou, she says she loves her church and loves that preacher. That’s a good sign, ain’t it?
She don’t talk about it all the time, though. Seems like she’s a bit shy about it, or maybe she just figures it’s her own business. And you know what? She’s right. A person’s faith is a private thing, between them and God. But she did open up a bit, and that’s how we know.
- She goes to Second Baptist Church in Houston.
- She loves her church and her pastor, Ed Young.
- She’s a “born-again believer”, whatever that means exactly. Sounds religious though.
- She hasn’t talked about it publicly much before, not her style, I guess.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ you gotta be shoutin’ from the rooftops to be a Christian. Some folks are quiet about it, and that’s just fine. The important thing is what’s in your heart. And from what I can tell, Mary Lou’s got the Lord in her heart.
They say she’s been goin’ through some tough times lately, health-wise. Fightin’ for her life, poor thing. But that’s when a person’s faith really gets tested, don’t it? And I hear tell that folks are prayin’ for her all over the country. That’s what Christians do, they lift each other up. They pray for each other. They support each other. And that’s a beautiful thing to see.
This Mary Lou, she was a champion gymnast, always winnin’ and doin’ amazing things. But you know what? That ain’t nothin’ compared to havin’ faith in God. That’s the real prize, the real victory. ‘Cause this life here on earth, it’s just temporary. But faith in the Lord, that lasts forever.
So, is Mary Lou Retton a Christian? Well, I can’t say for sure, ’cause I ain’t her and I can’t see inside her head. But from what I’ve heard, and from what I see, it sure seems like she is. And that’s a good thing. That’s a real good thing. She believes in Jesus, goes to church, and seems like a decent woman. What more ya need?
Anyways, It don’t matter if you are famous or just a regular person like me, faith is faith. It’s about believin’ in somethin’ bigger than yourself. It’s about trustin’ that there’s a plan, even when things look bad. And it’s about lovin’ your neighbor and doin’ what’s right.
And you know, maybe that’s why folks are rallyin’ around Mary Lou right now. They see her faith, they see her strength, and they see a woman who’s fightin’ the good fight. And they wanna support her, they wanna pray for her, and they wanna let her know that she ain’t alone.
So, yeah, I reckon Mary Lou Retton’s a Christian. And I wish her all the best. May the Lord bless her and keep her, and may she find peace and strength in her faith.
That’s all I gotta say about it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. Got a pot roast in the oven, and it’s smellin’ mighty good.
