Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this Emmylou Harris and her hair. Folks are always goin’ on about it, ya know? Emmylou Harris hairstyles, that’s what they call it. I reckon it’s ’cause she’s got that somethin’ special, that way of lookin’ good no matter what.
Now, I ain’t no fancy hairdresser or nothin’, but I can tell ya what I see. This woman, she’s had all sorts of ‘dos over the years. When she was younger, she had this long, flowin’ hair, kinda like a river, all shiny and pretty. Lots of waves, like the water when you throw a stone in it. They say it was her “signature look”. Well, I guess it was. Pretty as a picture, she was.
- Long and wavy
- Short and sassy
- Gray and graceful
Then she went and got it shorter, a bit more… perky, ya know? Still nice, mind you, but different. Showed off her face more. And then, the biggest change of all, she let it go gray. Lord, people were talkin’ then! But ya know what? She pulled it off. Made it look… elegant, I guess is the word. Beautiful gray hair, that’s what they call it now. And she is beautiful, wrinkles and all.
I seen pictures of her on them… “Pin… somethin’”. Pinterest, that’s it! Lots and lots of pictures. Folks are always sharin’ ’em, talkin’ about her hair. Some want to know how to get their hair to look like hers. There’s even talk of “tutorials”, whatever them things are. Sounds fancy to me.
She said somethin’ once, in an interview I heard about. Said colorin’ her hair was too much trouble. And ya know, I get that. Who wants to be fussin’ with all that mess all the time? She said women should do whatever makes ‘em feel good, but she wished we’d all just accept ourselves as we get older. Smart woman, that Emmylou. She embraced the gray, and it embraced her right back.
They got all sorts of words for her hair now… “iconic”, “chic updos”. I don’t know about all them fancy words. All I know is, she always looks put together, even when she ain’t tryin’ too hard. That’s the secret, I reckon. Bein’ yourself. And maybe havin’ good hair genes don’t hurt none neither.
And she’s still singin’, ya know? Goin’ on tour and all. Imagine that! A woman her age, still out there singin’ her heart out. Good for her, I say. Shows ya that age ain’t nothin’ but a number. And good hair, well, that’s just a bonus.
So, if you’re lookin’ for some hair inspiration, I guess you could do worse than lookin’ at Emmylou Harris. She’s tried it all, from long to short, from colored to gray. And she’s always looked good doin’ it. Maybe it’s the hair, maybe it’s her. Probably a bit of both. But one thing’s for sure, she’s a woman who knows how to carry herself, and that’s more important than any fancy hairdo.
Anyways, that’s just my two cents on the matter. This Emmylou Harris, she’s got somethin’ special, and her hair, well, it’s just part of the whole package. A package that’s aged like fine wine, I’d say.
