Well, let me tell you about this Jaclyn Smith and Kmart thing, you know, like how we old ladies gossip at the village entrance.
Jaclyn Smith, that pretty lady from the TV, she did a real smart thing. Back in the old days, when I was still young, this Jaclyn, she went and made a deal with Kmart. You remember Kmart, right? That big store where you could buy everything from clothes to, well, you know, everything! It wasn’t fancy, but it was cheap and you could find what you needed.
So, Jaclyn, she started selling her own clothes there. Not like those fancy-schmancy designer clothes you see in them city magazines, no sir! These were clothes for regular folks, like you and me. Clothes you could wear to church, to the grocery store, to visit your grandkids. And you know what? People loved them! They sold and sold and sold. They say she sold more than 100 million things! Can you imagine? That’s a whole lot of shirts and pants, let me tell you.
This Jaclyn, she was one smart cookie. She wasn’t just a pretty face on TV, no siree! She was a businesswoman. And this Kmart deal, well, it made her a whole lot of money, I reckon. And it gave regular women like us a chance to look nice without spending a fortune. That was a good thing, a real good thing. Back then, money was tight, you know? We had to be careful with every penny. Having nice clothes that didn’t cost an arm and a leg, well, that was a blessing.

- She sold stuff for your house, like sheets and towels.
- She was real popular.
Now, things change, you know? Kmart, well, it ain’t what it used to be. Stores closed, people started shopping online, all that fancy stuff. And Jaclyn, she ain’t selling her clothes at Kmart no more. Her contract ended, they say. Something about July 2021. They had a big sell-off, everything must go! I remember seeing those signs, always makes me a little sad, you know, seeing things change like that.
But don’t you worry about Jaclyn. That woman, she’s like a weed, she just keeps on growing! She found herself some new folks to work with, some company called RDG Global. And guess what? She’s selling clothes again! New clothes, modern clothes, they say. I bet they’re still pretty, though. Jaclyn always made pretty clothes. She started doing this a long time ago, back in the mid-1980s. They said she was from Houston. And before all that selling clothes thing, she was a shampoo girl, selling shampoo or something. Anyway, she made a name for herself and then started selling clothes.
It’s kinda like when my old hen stops laying eggs, I get a new hen, life goes on. Jaclyn, she just moved on, found a new way to get her clothes to the people. And that’s good, I say. Good for her and good for the women who like her clothes.
I heard some people lost their jobs when Kmart closed down. That’s a shame, a real shame. It’s hard to lose your job, especially when you’re older. But Jaclyn, she seems to be doing alright. She always had that go-getter spirit, that somethin’ somethin’ that made her stand out. Kinda like that red rooster we had back on the farm, always struttin’ around like he owned the place.
So, that’s the story of Jaclyn Smith and Kmart, as far as I know it. A good story, I think. A story about a woman who worked hard and made something of herself. And a story about how things change, but sometimes, they stay the same too. Because Jaclyn, she’s still selling clothes, and women, well, we still need clothes. It’s just the way of the world, ain’t it?
I saw on some video, something called Kmart Design, probably showing off how they made things look nice. Back then, even simple things looked good.
And that’s all I gotta say about that. Now, let me go make some supper, my stomach’s startin’ to rumble.
