Alright, let’s talk about this Captain Janeway and that Seven of Nine girl. I’ve been watchin’ this Star Trek thing, and somethin’ ain’t right. This Janeway, she’s the boss lady on that Voyager ship, yeah? And Seven, she used to be one of them Borg, all mechanical and stuff, but now she’s tryin’ to be human again.
Now, I ain’t no fancy space expert, but even I can see Janeway’s always on Seven’s case. It’s like, give the girl a break, will ya? Seven, she’s had a rough go of it, bein’ snatched up by them Borg and all. She’s learnin’ how to be human, and that ain’t easy. It’s like teachin’ a calf to milk a cow, it takes time and patience.
Janeway’s always pushin’ Seven. Pushin’ her to feel, pushin’ her to act human, pushin’ her to follow all them Starfleet rules. I get it, Janeway’s the captain, and she’s gotta keep things in line. But sometimes, she goes too far. She treats Seven like a child, always tellin’ her what to do and how to feel. It’s like she don’t trust Seven to make her own choices.
And that whole “regaining her humanity” thing? Seems to me like Janeway’s got her own idea of what bein’ human means, and she’s tryin’ to force it on Seven. Seven’s gotta figure that out for herself, ain’t she? You can’t just tell someone how to be human. It’s like tellin’ a chicken how to lay an egg, they just gotta do it their own way.

I heard tell that Janeway took on a “maternal role” towards Seven. Well, if that’s bein’ a mother, then I’m glad I ain’t got a mama like that. A good mama helps you grow, she don’t try to control you. She gives you room to make mistakes and learn from ’em. Janeway, she’s just tryin’ to mold Seven into somethin’ she ain’t.
And it ain’t just me seein’ it. I hear folks talkin’ about it, how Janeway’s always on Seven’s back. They say it ain’t fair, and I agree. Seven’s a smart girl, she can figure things out on her own. She don’t need Janeway breathin’ down her neck all the time.
I remember one time, they was talkin’ about how to deal with some space monsters, somethin’ called Species 8472. Janeway, she decided to use Seven’s Borg knowledge to help ’em out. That’s all well and good, but it felt like she was just usin’ Seven, not really treatin’ her like a person.
It’s like Janeway sees Seven as a tool, not a person. She uses her Borg knowledge when it’s convenient, but then she turns around and tells her to act more human. It’s confusing, ain’t it? You can’t have it both ways, Janeway. You gotta decide if you want Seven to be a Borg or a human, and then you gotta respect her choice.
And let’s not forget that whole thing with Chakotay, Janeway’s number two. I heard tell that there coulda been somethin’ goin’ on between them two, but Janeway shut it down. Said it wasn’t proper for a captain to be gettin’ all cozy with her first officer. Well, maybe she shoulda been thinkin’ ’bout what’s proper when she’s treatin’ Seven like a science experiment.
Look, I ain’t sayin’ Janeway’s a bad person. She’s just got her own way of doin’ things, and sometimes, that way ain’t so good for Seven. Maybe she thinks she’s doin’ what’s best, but she’s just makin’ things harder for the girl. Seven’s gotta learn to be human on her own terms, not Janeway’s.
In the end, I guess it comes down to respect. Janeway needs to respect Seven, her past, her choices, and her feelings. She needs to stop treatin’ her like a project and start treatin’ her like a person. Until then, I’m gonna keep on thinkin’ that Janeway’s abusin’ her power over Seven.
So, yeah, that’s what I think about this whole Janeway and Seven situation. It ain’t right, and somebody needed to say somethin’ about it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about space and robots has made me hungry for some good old-fashioned cornbread and beans.
